David Elliott - LHS Coordinator

David brings nearly 30 years of elite hockey experience to our team. A veteran of the game, David coached with USA Hockey for 12 years and served as a collegiate lacrosse coach, demonstrating a high-level commitment to athlete development across multiple sports.

His deep understanding of the game is rooted in 27 years of officiating at the USA Hockey, High School, and Collegiate levels. David’s coaching pedigree includes working alongside legendary goaltender Vladislav Tretiak at International Hockey Schools, ensuring our players develop a true passion for the game.

Cooper Freije - LHS Instructor

Cooper brings a wealth of competitive experience and a renewed passion for player development to our coaching lineup. A product of the Team North Dakota programs, Cooper played four years of high school hockey at West Fargo Sheyenne and Grand Forks Red River. His playing career reached the junior ranks when he affiliated with the Minot Minotauros in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

Over the last two years, Cooper has transitioned into a dedicated coach, leading Varsity hockey in Minnesota and running elite on-ice skill sessions for high-level players. His focus on technical proficiency and his recent experience in the modern game make him an invaluable asset for athletes looking to jump to the next level.

Matt Dietz - LHS On-Ice Power Skating & Edge Work Coach

With 28 years of playing experience and 8 years as a hockey coach, Matt brings elite expertise and high energy to the ice. He specializes in power skating and technical edge work, believing that a strong skating foundation is the key to every great player. Coach Matt is dedicated to helping athletes develop precision, balance, and the confidence to reach their full potential through disciplined, positive training.

Travis Lian - LHS Goalie Instructor 

A Fargo North High standout, Travis Lian brings elite-level experience and a world-class pedigree to the crease at Legends Hockey School. A former All-State and All-Conference selection for the Spartans, Travis also represented the International USA Team in Norway at age 14 and competed for Team ND before moving on to the Junior ranks.

Travis’s technical foundation was built under the tutelage of hockey royalty. He trained at UND’s goalie camps under Ed Belfour and worked alongside the legendary Vladislav Tretiak at International Hockey Schools. Today, Travis is dedicated to passing on those professional habits and elite insights to the next generation of young goaltenders.
